Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be joined by several top European leaders when he meets US President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday for talks aimed at advancing a potential peace settlement in Ukraine.

According to CNN, leaders from France, Germany, the UK, Italy, and Finland will take part in the discussions, along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The Élysée Palace confirmed French President Emmanuel Macron’s participation, saying he would work to “continue coordination between Europeans and the United States with the aim of achieving a just and lasting peace that preserves Ukraine’s vital interests and European security.”

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s office said he would emphasise the urgency of reaching a peace agreement, while UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer praised Zelenskyy’s “desire for a just and lasting peace” and confirmed his attendance.

The meeting comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly made concessions on potential “land swaps” and accepted the idea of US security guarantees for Ukraine during his recent summit with Trump, according to Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff. Moscow, however, has not publicly acknowledged such commitments, which appear to contradict Putin’s earlier positions.

The White House session will reportedly be held in two stages: separate delegation meetings between Trump and Zelenskyy, followed by a joint discussion with European leaders, possibly concluding with a working lunch.

Talks are expected to focus on Russia’s demands regarding territorial concessions, the framework of security guarantees for Ukraine, and the possible role of the United States in ensuring their implementation. Witkoff also suggested Trump is pushing for a three-way meeting with both Zelenskyy and Putin in the near future.
